You've Got 1 Minute to Share...

This summer, I applied for an award that was focused on social change through travel. This question was on the application: You're handed a microphone to share a message with the entire world- you've got a minute to share- what would you say?

Here's my answer:

Get closer. So often, we hold opinions and worldviews that are informed from a separate, distant location. When we get up close and personal with a curious mind and heart, when we commit to listen well, we are changed by the earth that we touch, the people that we meet, and the promptings within our own selves.

Get uncomfortable. Growth and change do not happen in comfort. We must push past fear and self-protection to grow connection and a greater imagination that includes the flourishing of all people. The change begins with our willingness to step out of our comfort zones into this great big beautiful world that has so much to teach us. Moving outside of comfort zones helps us to discover gifts and live more fully.

Get going. Get out there. Travel locally, travel globally, travel wholeheartedly. You have much to give and much to receive. The world invites you to join your passions, your gifts, and your life for good.

Get closer. Get uncomfortable. Get going.

What would you share if given the microphone?
